Sri Samaresh Mukerji comes from an established musical and literary family from Bengal, India. His first tabla tutor was his brother, Sri Amaresh Mukerji, himself a disciple of the late Pandit Jnanprakash Ghosh. He later studied with Pandit Mahapurush Misra of the Benaras Ghanara school of music. He has performed with many renowned instrumentalists and vocalists, including sitarist and composer Sri Baluji Shrivastav, sitarist Pandit Subroto Roy Chowdhury of Senia Gharana, sitarist Sri Preetam Banerjee, sitarist Sri Padmakar Misra, sarodist Sri Partho Sarothy (a disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar), Mr Clem Alford (the very first European sitar player) and many others. Samaresh has contributed tabla to Troia Nova’s Trilogia CD.
